HELP SAVE OUR CLUB
Clyde Pinelands Football Club, founded in 1898, is at risk due to the proposed King David Mowbray precinct development. Help protect one of South Africa’s oldest football clubs by submitting your objection before 6 July.
Clyde Pinelands Football Club was founded in 1898, making us, at 128 years old, the oldest non-amalgamated football club in South Africa.
However, the City’s plans to develop the King David Mowbray precinct will end what we have worked to create for over a century.
Our players have turned out for clubs across Europe. Eddie Firmani, who came through Clyde, went on to coach legends like Pelé, Johan Cruyff and Franz Beckenbauer at the New York Cosmos.
Today, our club proudly runs youth development, grassroots leagues, and competitive teams from juniors under 6 years old through to Over 50s. Players come from every background and every part of the city.
We have welcomed all with a passion for the game for 128 years. That work and this community deserve better than being reduced to a footnote that promises to keep us “retained on site” at a significantly diminished scale.
If this development proceeds, our club will cease to exist as it is, and a valuable city asset will be lost forever.
Please make your voice heard and help secure our club for generations to come.
Public comment is open until 6 July.
